Specialized products formed from Tyrosine

Tyrosine serves as a precursor for several important compounds:

  1. Catecholamines – Dopamine, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine

  2. Thyroid hormones – Thyroxine (T₄), Triiodothyronine (T₃)

  3. Melanin – Skin, hair, and eye pigment

Extra fact for accuracy:

  • Starting from Tyrosine, the pathway produces L-DOPA → Dopamine → Norepinephrine → Epinephrine.

  • Melanin formation requires Tyrosinase enzyme; its deficiency causes albinism.
