Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B₅)
Function: Component of Coenzyme A and acyl carrier protein — essential for metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins via acetyl-CoA and fatty acid synthesis.
Sources: Egg yolk, liver, whole grains, meat, legumes.
RDA (Adults): ~5 mg/day.
Deficiency (rare): Causes “burning feet syndrome”, fatigue, irritability.
Water-soluble vitamin; lost in refining processes.
