Enzymes – clinically Important (Any two with their normal values and clinical significance)

Clinically important enzymes – any two with normal values and clinical significance

1. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT / SGPT)

  • Normal value: 7 – 56 U/L (serum)

  • Clinical significance: Elevated in hepatocellular damage – e.g., acute hepatitis, liver injury.

2. Creatine kinase (CK / CPK)

  • Normal value: 20 – 200 U/L (varies by sex/age)

  • Clinical significance: Elevated in myocardial infarction (CK-MB) and muscle disorders like muscular dystrophy.
